If places are available, Frensham welcomes applications for children to join any year group in our Junior School. We are selective only in the sense that we aim to choose the students we believe will get the most out of everything the school has to offer and who in turn we can best help to achieve their potential.
Entry to nursery
Children should be three years old at the time of entry (or be due to turn three in the half term they join us). We also ask that they are fully toilet trained. Once you have registered, we invite you to bring your child into the nursery for an informal visit of about an hour. You can either stay with your child or leave him/her – the choice is yours.
Entry to reception
Once registered, we invite your child to spend a morning with us in reception class where they will be informally observed by the class teacher.
Entry to year 1 – 6
Once registered, your child will be invited to spend the day with his or her peer group and will be informally assessed by the class teacher in reading, spelling and maths. This is primarily to give us a good idea of their levels in each area and is not a formal exam process.
Once assessed, your child will be free to enjoy the rest of the day having fun and making friends. They will also join in with refreshments at break times and lunch in the dining room. You will receive feedback from us within a few days.
