We welcome boarders at Frensham and offer full, weekly and, where possible, flexi boarding. Roberts House is an ideal environment for our Sixth Formers, offering a relaxed and friendly space where they can study, socialise and enjoy the increasing independence they need to prepare for the next stage in their lives.
About half of all Sixth Formers will be either full or weekly boarders and day students often take advantage of flexible boarding to stay for occasional nights. All Sixth Form boarders have their own study/bedroom in Roberts House, while day students will usually share a study with one other. Steve Powell, our Head of Mathematics, is also full-time Housemaster in Roberts House assisted by Cristina Pecetta, while Norma, is the House Parent. There are also several resident and non-resident staff tutors who routinely spend time with the boarders.
Many of our weekly boarders take advantage of our bus that runs from school to London Waterloo on Friday evenings and back to school on Sunday evenings. However, several prefer to stay with us at weekends.
Alongside our many and varied extracurricular activities offered after school on weekdays and open to all students, boarders are offered shopping, theatre and cinema trips as well as impromptu sports matches, pamper evenings, barbecues and so on. There is a regular social night open to Sixth Form boarders and day students alike.
These events are not compulsory because we also know that boarders enjoy the different pace of the houses at weekends, when they can relax and unwind just as they would at home.
