Frequently Asked Questions

Clothes and Footwear

Children in the Junior School get up to lots of things indoors and outside so please make sure they are dressed appropriately. Coats and wellies are essential, as are sun hats in the summer and warm hats and gloves in the winter. We’d be grateful if you could make sure that all personal items are clearly named so that we can return any abandoned items to their rightful owner!

After School Care (EDA)

There are a limited number of spaces available for after school care from 3.20pm-5.30pm. If you are interested in signing up for this, please speak to Sam in the Junior School office, who will be able to let you know availability and costs.

Lunch and Breaks

Lunch
Nursery children go in to the dining room for lunch ahead of all other students and sit with the Nursery staff. Older Junior School children also go in to the dining room for lunch ahead of all other students and are supervised throughout by their class teacher.

Break
The children have a morning break when they can have milk or water and fruit or a savoury snack. This is provided by the school so please don’t send any other snacks in. We are a nut-free zone but if your child has any other special dietary needs, please raise this with Junior School staff and confirm on email to Sam in the office. All break times are supervised by a member of staff.

Outings

The children go on a wide range of outings through the year. You will know about these well in advance and we’ll let you know if these incur any additional costs.

Events, Progress and Reports

A whole school calendar is sent home to all parents at the beginning of each term. This is full of useful information, detailing all planned events, outings and activities as well as school day timings, term dates and contact details for key members of staff. On a more formal level, there are regular reports and Parents’ Evenings scheduled throughout the school year. However, if you want to discuss your child at other times, please feel free to contact Sam in the Junior School office to make an appointment. We also email a newsletter every week to keep you up to date with everything the children have been up to and looking ahead to the following week so you will always know if there is something special coming up or if we have asked your child to bring in anything from home. You will also get a regular news email from Lydia letting you know what wonderful and exciting things the children have been discovering during Forest Class.
