A MESSAGE FROM ANDREW
SAFEGUARDING WITH JO AND JACK
As the term ends we are sending out more attendance letters for all children whose attendance has fallen below 90%. If you receive one of these, please do not be alarmed and please know that we do understand that there often very good reasons for absence and we know why each child has been absent each day. These are just part of our attempt to keep you informed of the level their attendance is at and work with all of you to help get children into school as much as possible. Post-covid this is a national issue and as there is so much evidence to show that being in school is so good for our children, we are really pleased that the attendance levels across the school have improved greatly this term compared to last year as we are working more closely with you on this issue.

STAFF CHRISTMAS BAND
Lunchtime on Wednesday was given a festive vibe thanks to our in-house staff Christmas band!
HANDS ON MATHS
It was lovely to see all our Y8 students getting outside and taking on the Hands on Maths challenge of Me V Usain Bolt. Students enjoyed sprinting 100m and then comparing their 10m split times to Usain Bolt's and exploring links to gradients and speed in the classroom. They produced some lovely project work on distance/time graphs and had lots of fun in the process. Well done Year 8.
CHRISTMAS LAVA LAMP PRACTICALS
KS3 groups enjoyed some fun festive practicals in the final week of term with included making lava lamps using oil, food colouring, and Alka-Seltzer tablets.
CHRISTMAS POSTCARDS
Students from Year 4 created cards for the Gostrey Brightwells Charity. These cards will delivered to elderly people’s homes with their mobile meals.
YEAR 5 GINGERBREAD
In Year 5 we have been having a creative week, between Christmas play rehearsals. The children made Gonk decorations, which brightened up the classroom. They also moulded individual models out of polymer clay, then used glycerine, water and glitter to create their own beautiful snow globes.
JUNIOR SCHOOL CROSS STITCH
In the Junior School this week, children in Years 4,5 and 6 late stay had a chance to learn how to cross stitch. They made some beautiful Christmas decorations. We were so impressed with the patience and perseverance shown by the children, and we think their hard work paid off!
SPORTS REPORT
Under 15s Girls Football v Lingfield (ISFA Shield)
The final game of the season came from the girls as they continued their journey in the ISFA shield round of 32. We had a home match against Lingfield and it was a classic battle with little between the two sides throughout. Frensham started well and were on the front foot and were able to create a few half chances for Jess and Jemima, but nothing to break the deadlock. Lingfield grew into the game and had some chances themselves but a couple of fine stops from Jamie in goal ensure the game remained even. Then a great chance taken from Georgia gave Frensham the lead after some strong and confident play by Jemima being able to play the ball in behind for the goal from Georgia. A lapse of concentration shortly before half time allowed Lingfield back into the game and the teams were even 1-1 at half time. A fast and aggressive start in the second half saw Frensham really go for it, chasing every ball especially Holly and Jemima who were relentless. An opportunity came for Georgia from 25 yards out with the ball bouncing she had a pop at goal and the looping strike managed the find its way into the goal to give Frensham the lead. That was the final goal of the match as the team confidently saw out the remaining 20 minutes of the match, a special mention to Cydney, Abbie and Freya in defence who main endless recovery runs and tackles to see out the victory. Well done everybody! We now play Oxford High in the quarter finals in the new year.
