Step into Frensham's Art & Design Centre and prepare to be inspired.

Beyond the state-of-the-art facilities, you'll discover a vibrant tapestry of student creativity. Here, every voice is celebrated, showcasing a diverse and often thought-provoking range of work. This isn't about following a formula; it's about fostering the courage to explore, experiment, and discover a unique artistic path.

The Creative Arts at Frensham

At Frensham Heights, Creative Arts are central to the school’s educational philosophy and are woven deeply into the curriculum from the earliest years through to Sixth Form. The Art & Design Centre, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, serves as a hub for cultivating individual expression, courage and experimentation. Students are encouraged to explore, investigate and develop their unique artistic voice rather than follow a formula-based programme.

From Nursery onwards, students embark on a creative journey that builds foundational skills and enthusiasm; in Years 7–9 they engage in intensive weekly study across 2D art, ceramics and design technology, emphasising drawing, investigation and exploratory practice. As students progress to GCSE and A-Level options in Fine Art, Graphic Communication, 3D Design and Photography, they are supported to take increasing responsibility for their creative decisions, shaping intent and meaning within their work.

They work in small classes that foster discussion, collaboration and personalised feedback. This approach reflects Frensham’s broader curricular aim to treat creative subjects equally with academic ones, nurturing confidence, critical thinking and a lifelong passion for the arts as part of a broad, thoughtful education.
