To launch our centenary year, Frensham students and staff travelled back to 1925 for a day filled with celebration, community spirit, and plenty of 1920s fun!

Learning the Charleston on the Lawn

The day began with the whole school gathered on the lawn to learn the Charleston, one of the most iconic dances of the Roaring Twenties. Laughter and music filled the air as students and teachers mastered the moves, setting the tone for a day full of energy and connection.

A Run Through History

After dancing, everyone took part in a run to the Aldridge Theatre, where the nostalgia continued with a special morning talk exploring Frensham’s 100-year history. History teacher Charlie guided us through the school’s early decades, while the legendary John A brought the modern era to life, even appearing alongside his younger self on stage!

A Taste of 1925

Throughout the day, lessons took on a 1925 twist, with reduced or no technology to recreate what school life would have been like a century ago. Students enjoyed traditional playground games, creative activities and a delicious vegetarian lunch, just as it would have been at Frensham in 1925.

The Junior School joined in the fun too, with themed lessons, costumes and old-fashioned games that made history come alive for our youngest learners.

A Day to Remember

Our 1925 day was a wonderful way to begin our centenary celebrations, a reminder of how far Frensham has come and how the values of creativity, community, and curiosity continue to shape our school today.

Here’s to the next 100 years of Frensham!
