You’ll find more details below of what normally happens in our different year groups. NURSERY & RECEPTION Once you have registered, we’ll invite you to bring your child in for a short informal visit to meet Sarah, our Teacher in Charge of Early Years, and to explore our Early Years facilities. Children need to be three years old at the time of entry or in the first half term they join and they must be fully toilet trained. YEARS 1 TO 6 Children looking to join the Junior School will be invited to spend a day with us. During their time here, they will join their year group in all their usual activities and experience a little of what is so special about Frensham. They will also spend a short time one to one with a teacher working through some core numeracy and literacy activities designed to help us ensure your child will happily access the curriculum at Frensham. We will also ask for a written reference from your child’s current school and for you to share their two most recent school reports. We always aim to give feedback to families within a few days. MIDDLE & SENIOR SCHOOL (YEARS 7 - 11) Our Year 7-9 interview day takes place in the November prior to the desired September start. The children will be invited in for a morning of informal interviews followed by fun team building activities. Assessments take place in the January prior to entry when we will invite your child into school to take some short tests. Once the children have completed their entrance assessments they stay for lunch in our dining room before enjoying a range of activities across the afternoon. Parents are invited to join us for tea at the end of the day. It is our aim to assess the whole child. Academic tests help us determine if your child will be able to access the curriculum but places go to those who we feel will contribute to and thrive at Frensham. To help us do this, we will request references from your child’s current school and also their two most recent school reports. We also accept enquiries for in-year entrance if there is space. Deferred Entry and Pre-testing Pre-testing offers an opportunity for children to be assessed in the Spring Term of Year 6 for a place in Year 9. By completing assessment at this stage, families can be offered peace of mind and security with regards to their children’s education and the children themselves are free to enjoy their last years at prep school.  Note that we still welcome applications from families of children in Year 8 who would prefer to leave assessment until this stage. We aim to have all papers marked and offers made within two weeks of the assessment weekend. If you are interested in a place in Year 10 please contact the Admissions team to find out more. YR 7 & UP OFFERS Offers are normally sent out within one-two weeks and you would normally receive one of four potential responses. Guaranteed offer: successful candidates will be offered a guaranteed place to start the following September (or the start of Year 9 for pre-test candidates). Places must be accepted by the first Monday in March. Waiting list offer: these candidates will be offered a guaranteed place as soon as a place becomes available Offer to re-test (pre-test candidates only): if we feel your child has not quite reached the level required in the pre-test, but we think they would really benefit from a Frensham education, we may invite them to come back for assessments in Year 8. Regret: if we, unfortunately, feel that Frensham is not quite the right fit for your child. DEPOSITS If you wish to accept an offer of a place at Frensham for your child, we will ask you to pay a deposit as follows (for 2025/26): Nursery: £300 Junior, Middle & Senior School: £1,000 Should you accept a deferred place at Frensham, we would request a deposit of £2,000 per child. For overseas students, deposit details are available on request. SIXTH FORM For those looking to join us in Year 12 in September, our entrance day is in the November prior. Applicants will complete short assessments as part of a taster day in mid-November here at Frensham. Students looking to study Maths or Science at A Level may be asked to complete an assessment in either Maths or Science as well.   There will also be an interview with our Head and we will ask for a reference from their current school as well as a copy of their most recent school report. Students must have achieved, or be likely to achieve, at least six GCSE passes at grades 9 – 4, of which a minimum of a 4 is required in both English Language and Mathematics. In most cases, a grade 6 is required in the subjects they want to study at A Level but please refer to the A Level Options booklet for specific entry requirements for each subject. Students who want to study Mathematics at A Level should preferably have achieved or be likely to achieve a grade 7 in Mathematics GCSE. Students who want to pursue Mathematics at A Level with a grade 6 will still be considered but may have a short interview with the Head of Mathematics to determine their suitability for the course. fees OUR CURRENT FEES 2025-26 SCHOOL FEES 2025-26 NURSERY FEES INDIVIDUAL NEEDS Frensham Heights is proud to welcome students with Individual Needs, but with a small Support for Learning team, we can only support a limited number of children with mild learning difficulties in each year. We expect most students to take the full complement of subjects. The School can provide limited support in English, Maths and with Study Skills if necessary. We can provide reasonable adjustments to accommodate students with mild learning needs. If your child has Individual Needs we will ask you for additional information about any known or suspected difficulties or diagnoses relating to your child’s health, wellbeing or learning abilities – such as a formal Educational Psychologist, Medical or Specialist Teacher’s report and an informal conversation with your child’s current school. This information will help us see if we could reasonably meet your child’s needs. Importantly, it will also help us see if your child could thrive and benefit from everything the school has to offer and be able to contribute in full to the life of the school. VIEW OUR SEN POLICY SEND SCHOLARSHIPS Years 7-11 Enrichment As with most things, we do scholarships a bit differently and so rather than awarding individuals our enrichment programme is open to all and is not applied for in a traditional manner. Instead, students can put themselves forward for enrichment activities and therefore benefit from a wide range of additional activities including those that are related to sport, music, academia and life skills.   Sixth Form Arts Awards Our Sixth Form Arts Awards are for students who show exceptional talent and potential in the Creative and Performing Arts. Monetary awards are offered to selected Sixth Form students in the following disciplines: Dance, Music, Drama, Fine Art, Technical Theatre, Photography, 3D Design and Graphics. Those seeking a Sixth Form Arts Award for either the creative or performing arts will be invited to audition and/or submit a portfolio from the November preceding the September of the year of entry. These are for internal and external applicants. Please click here for more information. scholarships BURSARIES The deadline for applications for entry in September 2026 has closed (31st October 2025). We will reopen for applications for 27/28 applications in September 2026. Our means tested bursaries provide financial support to existing and prospective students. Very much at the heart of our values and ethos, we passionately believe in providing a way in which students who would thrive and flourish at Frensham are able to access the school regardless of their parent’s ability to pay the fees. This does depend on our bursary funds available. Other information: For those seeking a full 100% bursary, we work with The Royal Springboard Charity and we recommend that you look at their website About us | Royal National Children's SpringBoard Foundation We also recommend that all applicants consider the following list of charities which support schools Find a Charity - ETF to see if any of these would apply to you. We do work with some of these charities to support bursary funding. bursaries HM FORCES AND FCDO DISCOUNT We welcome families from the Armed Forces and the Foreign Office to Frensham Heights. We offer a 10% discount off full boarding fees to families serving in HM Forces and the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office for children in School Years 7-13. For eligible families, the CEA (Continuity of Education Allowance) can help towards the cost of a boarding school. Families will need to apply for this directly, and Frensham heights cannot advise on eligibility. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS We welcome international students, with around 25% of boarding students coming from different countries. This creates a culturally diverse, integrated community, where everyone can feel at home. Our less formal environment also lends itself to making lifelong friends so many international students will go home knowing that their Frensham experience will continue well into the future. Assessments can be sent to a child’s current school in their home country and interviews conducted remotely. MORE ABOUT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS International ! • RESULTS | Frensham Heights

At Frensham Heights, we know exams are important and it's a chance for students to gain a real base of knowledge in subjects they enjoy, but we urge them - and their parents - to focus not on the exams, but on their development during the courses and the skills they'll gain for life beyond. RESULTS Exam results are testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion that our students – and teachers – have put into their subjects. Of course, exams are not the only benchmark of a great education. But we are proud to know that our distinctive style of education – with a focus on independent thinking, imagination, risk taking, and collaboration – actively contributes to exceptional academic outcomes. A-LEVEL RESULTS: 2025 A LEVELS Frensham Heights Celebrates Another Year of Success Frensham students have been celebrating the culmination of two years of exploration and study in their chosen A Level, BTEC and RSL subjects. They have balanced academic success with extracurricular activities, friendships and personal challenges. In true Frensham style, we saw strong results across our broad subject offering with students heading off to an equally diverse array of destinations. From Architecture to Musical Theatre and from English to Aerospace Engineering, the majority of our students achieved their first university course choice at institutions ranging from Kings College, London to the University of Creative Arts and Emerson University in the USA. Head Ben McCarey commented: "These students are leaving Frensham having grown into wonderful, kind and well-rounded human beings and I’m so excited to see what they do next, whatever their pathway. Our aim at Frensham is to take the emphasis away from results and place it on student engagement and enjoyment. This approach, alongside excellent academic and pastoral support, has consistently seen our students surpass expectations and find their own paths.” At a school like Frensham, achievement is so much more than success on results day. The progressive approach at Frensham is built not only on excellent teaching but also on strong teacher student relationships and an environment which allows students to breathe just that little easier.   A LEVEL RESULTS 2025 - 2021 GCSE & BTEC RESULTS 2025 Frensham Heights School Celebrates Their GCSE Students’ Amazing Achievements Frensham Heights School is delighted to celebrate this year’s GCSE students, recognising not only their wonderful academic successes but the energy, resilience and individuality they have shown throughout their school journey, particularly with the significant impact of Covid on this year group. These young people embody the spirit of a progressive education, proving that when students are happy, respected and free to be themselves, they grow in confidence and achieve their best. The school is particularly proud of the way students have balanced their studies with the many other passions that make them who they are. From excelling in sport and the performing arts to navigating the challenges of modern life, they have shown maturity, creativity and determination. Their ability to maintain a healthy balance between work and personal life has been as important as the grades they have achieved. These students leave with more than qualifications, they leave with the skills, confidence and sense of self needed to thrive in a changing world. Ben McCarey, Head of Frensham Heights, said “The thing which makes Frensham Heights so special is that we have always known that the purpose of education is so much more than the results which students achieve. Whilst the grades our Year 11s have achieved this year are amongst the best in the school’s history and are, by any measure, exceptional, they are the happy by product of a successful education rather than its core purpose. Whether they are staying with us for Sixth Form or moving on to new adventures, these wonderful, warm, funny, compassionate and values driven young people will undoubtedly contribute to making their world a better place and we could not be prouder of them for that.” GCSE & BTEC RESULTS 2025 - 2021

  • Our Curriculum | Frensham Heights

Our curriculum is intentionally broad to offer each student both a thorough grounding in a diverse timetable of creative, scientific, physical and theoretical subjects, but also to give them each the chance to find their own passions and interests. OUR CURRICULUM QUICK LINKS EARLY YEARS JUNIOR SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOOL SIXTH FORM A BROAD CURRICULUM At Frensham, we treat academic and creative subjects equally and our aim is to offer a very broad curriculum allowing each child to find their own strengths and passions. Creativity at Frensham is not limited to the creative subjects. We look for creativity of thought in all our subjects – to look at things a bit differently, to consider a different approach to the norm. In this way, we hope each student can find their own way to be engaged, that teachers can find a way to get everyone excited. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE At Frensham, our team of responsive, experienced English teachers help inspire the students with a love of literature. Although we need to take account of exam requirements, we aim to create a culture that produces well-rounded and thoughtful learners who engage with each other, with the texts and with the issues they raise in the wider world. We encourage students to be passionate about English and enjoy reading - to ask questions, look for answers and make critical judgements. Active learning is at the heart of what the students do - looking not just at the how but the why, and so gaining a better understanding of the process of learning and their own abilities. Expectations and aspirations are high, but relevant to each individual, and we value all manner of talents. Regular formative assessments and assignments allow us to monitor progress and make adjustments so that every student has the opportunity to reach their full and unique potential. English is a core component of our curriculum from Nursery up through the GCSE years. As the children grow and develop in their own time, our aim is that students develop a love and appreciation for our subject. English is the foundation of everything we do. Our goal is for all our students to not only read and write effectively but to genuinely enjoy themselves and develop a sense of self-confidence. MATHS Our Maths teachers are really passionate about their subject and they genuinely want all their students to engage with and enjoy their classes. Confidence can often be an issue in Maths, but our small class sizes and friendly, informal class settings are the first steps in clearing this hurdle. The students, as with everything at Frensham, are at the centre of a safe, non-competitive teaching environment. All are encouraged to speak up and get involved, supporting one another and working together. Those who are naturally stronger will be challenged to expand and explore, those who need a slower pace will be supported and encouraged. The teachers structure their coursework around those students coming into their classes each year. The aim is for the students to really understand what they're learning and not just go through the motions for the sake of an exam or a grade. They are encouraged to work collaboratively through tasks and investigations - to present problems and share and discuss ideas and solutions - to really understand how what they're learning applies to life outside the classroom. SCIENCE The main aim of our Science department is to take the students on a journey from the youngest children through Sixth Form gaining the skills, knowledge and confidence to leave Frensham thinking like a scientist. With this wider understanding, they are ready for what might show up on an exam, but also much more than that. They will have the confidence to tackle what's put in front of them but also the courage to take risks and the willingness to learn. Our Science facilities are modern and facilitate group work and active participation of all students. Our teachers all have their own teaching style, but they all encourage students to take risks and explore -to feel that it's okay to get things wrong and make mistakes because that's how they learn. Try it - if it doesn't work, then learn from it - discuss, observe and try again. CREATIVE ARTS If you have stepped foot inside the Art & Design Centre at Frensham, you’ll know it’s simply breathtaking. Initially because of the outstanding facilities and equipment, but more powerfully for the breadth and quality of work on display. All students' work is displayed, not just that deemed better by a teacher, and the variety is immense and often challenging. This is not artwork created by following a prescriptive formula, but art created by students who are developing the courage to explore in their own way. That in itself is a gift which will benefit them no matter what they go on to do. Students have dedicated art classes from Nursery upwards. For the younger children, it’s all about getting excited about their art education and raising expectations of what they believe they can do. Our full art curriculum kicks off in Years 7 to 9 where students spend six hours a week, every week, exploring 2D, Ceramics and Design & Technology. Underpinning all is an experience of drawing, recording, investigating and exploring. The main goal is to develop willingness and enthusiasm and the courage to engage in the creative process. This builds confidence and ultimately self-esteem. Our primary aspiration is for our students to have the willingness and the courage to find their own creative voice – and once they have, to see the value in that. An important part of our classes throughout is discussion. Coming together to talk about their experiences, to learn to value their own work and the work of others. PERFORMING ARTS From Nursery through Year 9, music, dance and drama are all part of our curriculum. Everyone has a chance to get on stage and for those who crave the limelight, those opportunities can be many. The courage to get on stage is developed from an early age as is the ability to watch, listen and appreciate others. Aside from the bigger productions and concerts, students have dedicated time each week in the three performing arts and this is really where that confidence softly grows. Together, in a small group with a teacher they know well, they become comfortably uncomfortable. Tentatively stepping or leaping excitedly out of their comfort zones to the place where learning really happens. Each child is different and our teachers will get to know each so well that they will recognise where and how encouragement is needed, allowing even the most reluctant wallflower to have their time to shine. Along the way, reminding the most gregarious to step aside and let the others have their moment. So it’s not all about creating amazing dancers, singers and performers. Although we do that too! The performing arts serve another purpose at Frensham. They bring us together. Friends and families come together throughout the year to celebrate the spirit of our school. Whether it’s one of the amazing music and dance concerts, a musical, a big dramatic production, an informal recital or our Founders’ Day celebrations – our talented singers, dancers, actors, musicians, directors, designers, writers and teachers astound us constantly. Find out more about our Music School PE & SPORT Our commitment to extracurricular opportunities and outdoor education shows our deep belief that activities outside the classroom, inevitably, lead to further success within it as well. We recognise and embrace that every child is different. A limited view of sport can’t and won’t challenge and engage every child. It is only natural that Frensham has always respected the importance of sport in many forms. Our PE and games programme is broad and exciting. PE is compulsory and taught across the school by dedicated teachers. The curriculum includes traditional games such as cricket, tennis, rounders, football, hockey, swimming, athletics and netball as well as more alternative sports including basketball, handball, gymnastics and parkour. If a group of students are interested in a sport we don’t currently offer, we will do our best to get the equipment and knowledge and make it happen. We aim to provide sport for all regardless of ability and to motivate students to be active and healthy long into adulthood. Sporting fixtures are arranged with other schools and we take part in local and national league competitions. The aim is to make sport enjoyable with the emphasis on having a go and building skills through games, structured practices and, for those who enjoy them, highly competitive matches. Sports is part of our broad curriculum, as equal as all the other parts. We hope our students will love sport, love going to matches, win some, lose some and, most importantly, know how to win or lose well. We want our students to be fit and healthy, to get involved and include and value others. As with all areas of our curriculum, we challenge them to step outside their comfort zone and raise expectations of what they believe they can do. OUTDOOR EDUCATION At Frensham, we truly believe that as much, if not more, learning happens outside the classroom as within. Outdoor education has always been an intrinsic part of our curriculum from Forest Class for the Junior School through to very challenging expeditions for the older students. The programme for all activities begins with learning the skill set to prepare them for the experiential learning – the real adventures. As their practical skills develop and the experiences widen, the students develop massively in confidence, empathy, resilience, collaboration and communication. This is a real chance for those children whose courage may not come through in the classroom to really shine. Our onsite facilities are impressive – high-ropes, zipwire, climbing wall, bike trails and Jacob’s ladder to name a few. All activities and expeditions are run by staff who are constantly training and gaining further qualifications. It’s a real passion for students and staff alike with Frensham being the only school in the UK to hold the Gold Standard accreditation from The Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres. Students can also choose to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award through to the Gold Award. Frensham truly aims to embed a spirit of adventure into all students from an early age. To let them develop the courage to take on risks and step out of their comfort zone as well as the skills, maturity and confidence to do it capably, wisely and kindly.
