- Music | Frensham Heights
Music is an important part of our curriculum. We want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to listen, perform, explore and enjoy a wide range of music. OUR MUSIC SCHOOL OUR MUSIC CURRICULUM Music is a set part of the curriculum from Nursery through Year 9. Students in these years will have at least one dedicated music lesson per week. The curriculum for these years has been recently redesigned to make it more diverse, more practical, more focussed on SMSC, and most importantly, more fun! We now have a dedicated Junior Music specialist teacher, who will focus on Nursery to Year 3 while the rest of our team will share the teaching of Years 4 – 13. Junior School students in Years 4 - 6 learn a new instrument each year: strings in Year 4, wind/brass in Year 5 and ukulele/piano in Year 6, with our specialist instrumental teachers providing tuition in small groups. There is now more of a focus on Music Production and the use of sequencing software in Key Stages 2 and 3, so that our students can develop skills to prepare them for a future in the Music industry, if they wish. Once students leave Year 9, Music is no longer a compulsory part of the curriculum, but they have many options if they wish to continue. Within the Years 10 & 11 timetable, they can opt for our Music GCSE and at Sixth Form they can study Music A-Level and the new RSL Creative Music Industry course. REGISTER FOR PRIVATE MUSIC & LAMDA LESSONS Outside of the timetable, there are a wealth of opportunities both in a range of performances that run throughout the year (see below) and in our extensive extracurricular clubs, such as: Orchestra, Senior Choir, String Ensemble, Music Production Club, Funk/Soul Band, Composition Workshop, Junior Band Workshop, Junior School Singers and Flute Ensemble. Our aim is to incorporate Music into as many aspects of the school as possible. We have recently purchased a busking speaker to allow our musicians to perform on a whim and there is a jam piano (kindly painted by Year 7 Art students) available outside the Aldridge Theatre. We have also secured a Classical Spotlight at the beginning of each series of Morning Talks which run throughout the year. The Music Department is buzzing with student band rehearsals, and our newly purchased drum kits and amps are getting a lot of use. There are now three rooms that are plug-and-play ready for jamming, and the studio is up and running for recording. - WORKING AT FRENSHAM | Frensham Heights
One of the real differences about Frensham is our open, equal environment. There is no forced deference or demanded respect. We are all in this together. A strong basis of mutual respect and equality creates an innovative, lively place to work. WORKING AT FRENSHAM TEACHING STAFF As a progressive school, our teachers will find an exciting innovative opportunity to really engage with the students. Their role is not just to disperse knowledge, but to instill lasting learning and skills. Beyond a specific subject, our teachers engage students in cross-curricular projects and social, moral and ethical discussions and above all create genuine, lasting relationships built on mutual respect. There are currently no teaching vacancies SUPPORT STAFF As a cohesive community, it is just as important that our support staff are onboard with the communal vision and ethos of the school. There are many events throughout the year, not to mention lunchtime everyday, where students, teachers and support staff come together. It's more than just a day job, but something that you can become passionately involved with. There are currently no support staff vacancies Frensham Heights is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires its staff to share this commitment. All candidates will have a Safeguarding Suitability interview and child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, checks with past employers and a Prohibition from Teaching and Management Check. All posts are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.

- Our Curriculum | Frensham Heights
Our curriculum is intentionally broad to offer each student both a thorough grounding in a diverse timetable of creative, scientific, physical and theoretical subjects, but also to give them each the chance to find their own passions and interests. OUR CURRICULUM QUICK LINKS EARLY YEARS JUNIOR SCHOOL MIDDLE SCHOOL SENIOR SCHOOL SIXTH FORM A BROAD CURRICULUM At Frensham, we treat academic and creative subjects equally and our aim is to offer a very broad curriculum allowing each child to find their own strengths and passions. Creativity at Frensham is not limited to the creative subjects. We look for creativity of thought in all our subjects – to look at things a bit differently, to consider a different approach to the norm. In this way, we hope each student can find their own way to be engaged, that teachers can find a way to get everyone excited. ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE At Frensham, our team of responsive, experienced English teachers help inspire the students with a love of literature. Although we need to take account of exam requirements, we aim to create a culture that produces well-rounded and thoughtful learners who engage with each other, with the texts and with the issues they raise in the wider world. We encourage students to be passionate about English and enjoy reading - to ask questions, look for answers and make critical judgements. Active learning is at the heart of what the students do - looking not just at the how but the why, and so gaining a better understanding of the process of learning and their own abilities. Expectations and aspirations are high, but relevant to each individual, and we value all manner of talents. Regular formative assessments and assignments allow us to monitor progress and make adjustments so that every student has the opportunity to reach their full and unique potential. English is a core component of our curriculum from Nursery up through the GCSE years. As the children grow and develop in their own time, our aim is that students develop a love and appreciation for our subject. English is the foundation of everything we do. Our goal is for all our students to not only read and write effectively but to genuinely enjoy themselves and develop a sense of self-confidence. MATHS Our Maths teachers are really passionate about their subject and they genuinely want all their students to engage with and enjoy their classes. Confidence can often be an issue in Maths, but our small class sizes and friendly, informal class settings are the first steps in clearing this hurdle. The students, as with everything at Frensham, are at the centre of a safe, non-competitive teaching environment. All are encouraged to speak up and get involved, supporting one another and working together. Those who are naturally stronger will be challenged to expand and explore, those who need a slower pace will be supported and encouraged. The teachers structure their coursework around those students coming into their classes each year. The aim is for the students to really understand what they're learning and not just go through the motions for the sake of an exam or a grade. They are encouraged to work collaboratively through tasks and investigations - to present problems and share and discuss ideas and solutions - to really understand how what they're learning applies to life outside the classroom. SCIENCE The main aim of our Science department is to take the students on a journey from the youngest children through Sixth Form gaining the skills, knowledge and confidence to leave Frensham thinking like a scientist. With this wider understanding, they are ready for what might show up on an exam, but also much more than that. They will have the confidence to tackle what's put in front of them but also the courage to take risks and the willingness to learn. Our Science facilities are modern and facilitate group work and active participation of all students. Our teachers all have their own teaching style, but they all encourage students to take risks and explore -to feel that it's okay to get things wrong and make mistakes because that's how they learn. Try it - if it doesn't work, then learn from it - discuss, observe and try again. CREATIVE ARTS If you have stepped foot inside the Art & Design Centre at Frensham, you’ll know it’s simply breathtaking. Initially because of the outstanding facilities and equipment, but more powerfully for the breadth and quality of work on display. All students' work is displayed, not just that deemed better by a teacher, and the variety is immense and often challenging. This is not artwork created by following a prescriptive formula, but art created by students who are developing the courage to explore in their own way. That in itself is a gift which will benefit them no matter what they go on to do. Students have dedicated art classes from Nursery upwards. For the younger children, it’s all about getting excited about their art education and raising expectations of what they believe they can do. Our full art curriculum kicks off in Years 7 to 9 where students spend six hours a week, every week, exploring 2D, Ceramics and Design & Technology. Underpinning all is an experience of drawing, recording, investigating and exploring. The main goal is to develop willingness and enthusiasm and the courage to engage in the creative process. This builds confidence and ultimately self-esteem. Our primary aspiration is for our students to have the willingness and the courage to find their own creative voice – and once they have, to see the value in that. An important part of our classes throughout is discussion. Coming together to talk about their experiences, to learn to value their own work and the work of others. PERFORMING ARTS From Nursery through Year 9, music, dance and drama are all part of our curriculum. Everyone has a chance to get on stage and for those who crave the limelight, those opportunities can be many. The courage to get on stage is developed from an early age as is the ability to watch, listen and appreciate others. Aside from the bigger productions and concerts, students have dedicated time each week in the three performing arts and this is really where that confidence softly grows. Together, in a small group with a teacher they know well, they become comfortably uncomfortable. Tentatively stepping or leaping excitedly out of their comfort zones to the place where learning really happens. Each child is different and our teachers will get to know each so well that they will recognise where and how encouragement is needed, allowing even the most reluctant wallflower to have their time to shine. Along the way, reminding the most gregarious to step aside and let the others have their moment. So it’s not all about creating amazing dancers, singers and performers. Although we do that too! The performing arts serve another purpose at Frensham. They bring us together. Friends and families come together throughout the year to celebrate the spirit of our school. Whether it’s one of the amazing music and dance concerts, a musical, a big dramatic production, an informal recital or our Founders’ Day celebrations – our talented singers, dancers, actors, musicians, directors, designers, writers and teachers astound us constantly. Find out more about our Music School PE & SPORT Our commitment to extracurricular opportunities and outdoor education shows our deep belief that activities outside the classroom, inevitably, lead to further success within it as well. We recognise and embrace that every child is different. A limited view of sport can’t and won’t challenge and engage every child. It is only natural that Frensham has always respected the importance of sport in many forms. Our PE and games programme is broad and exciting. PE is compulsory and taught across the school by dedicated teachers. The curriculum includes traditional games such as cricket, tennis, rounders, football, hockey, swimming, athletics and netball as well as more alternative sports including basketball, handball, gymnastics and parkour. If a group of students are interested in a sport we don’t currently offer, we will do our best to get the equipment and knowledge and make it happen. We aim to provide sport for all regardless of ability and to motivate students to be active and healthy long into adulthood. Sporting fixtures are arranged with other schools and we take part in local and national league competitions. The aim is to make sport enjoyable with the emphasis on having a go and building skills through games, structured practices and, for those who enjoy them, highly competitive matches. Sports is part of our broad curriculum, as equal as all the other parts. We hope our students will love sport, love going to matches, win some, lose some and, most importantly, know how to win or lose well. We want our students to be fit and healthy, to get involved and include and value others. As with all areas of our curriculum, we challenge them to step outside their comfort zone and raise expectations of what they believe they can do. OUTDOOR EDUCATION At Frensham, we truly believe that as much, if not more, learning happens outside the classroom as within. Outdoor education has always been an intrinsic part of our curriculum from Forest Class for the Junior School through to very challenging expeditions for the older students. The programme for all activities begins with learning the skill set to prepare them for the experiential learning – the real adventures. As their practical skills develop and the experiences widen, the students develop massively in confidence, empathy, resilience, collaboration and communication. This is a real chance for those children whose courage may not come through in the classroom to really shine. Our onsite facilities are impressive – high-ropes, zipwire, climbing wall, bike trails and Jacob’s ladder to name a few. All activities and expeditions are run by staff who are constantly training and gaining further qualifications. It’s a real passion for students and staff alike with Frensham being the only school in the UK to hold the Gold Standard accreditation from The Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres. Students can also choose to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award through to the Gold Award. Frensham truly aims to embed a spirit of adventure into all students from an early age. To let them develop the courage to take on risks and step out of their comfort zone as well as the skills, maturity and confidence to do it capably, wisely and kindly.
- HEAD'S WELCOME | Frensham Heights
Hear a few words from Andrew Fisher, our Head, about his 15 years heading up Frensham Heights and his return to Frensham to pave the way for our incoming Head, Ben McCarey. WELCOME Welcome to Frensham I am honoured and humbled to be leading the Frensham Heights community as it enters its second century. I am part of this community both as Head and as a parent and my family is incredibly excited to begin our lives within this wonderful and unique school. As a parent, I want my children to grow up being open minded and willing to embrace new experiences; I want them to be free to explore their own paths and experience the beauty and joy which exist in our world (without being naive to its many flaws). Most importantly, I want them to learn within a community of individuals who understand the importance of kindness, compassion and optimism. As a teacher, I believe that a traditional, linear, education system does not adequately prepare children for the world they will inherit. This world is a rapidly changing, uncertain and, sometimes, scary place. If an education only equips children with an armoury of facts and knowledge and the ability to pass exams, but it doesn't furnish them with the ability to think creatively, critically and empathetically, then we have failed them. A Frensham education is one which ensures our children are well qualified and well educated and, most importantly, free to be kids in a world where we all grow up too quickly. Ben McCarey
- FRENSHAM SPIRIT | Frensham Heights
Frensham Heights is a very special school, there is a lightness and calmness around the site which comes from everyone being able to be themselves, genuinely. THE FRENSHAM SPIRIT FIRST NAMES & UNIFORMS If you ask someone who’s never visited Frensham, they’ll probably just say we’re a school that uses first names and doesn’t have uniforms. It might be said with a hint of doubt. That’s a bit weird, right? But, if we look around at our modern society – the workplace, family life – is it really so strange? These are actually very simple things, very natural things and their effect in a school setting is quite refreshing – ultimately by taking away that hint of doubt about doing something differently, that worry about being a bit weird. There is an energy about Frensham which is hard to describe. It's a feeling of happiness and lightness, a sense of freedom. It comes from all the children being comfortable in their own skins, their own clothes. With no prefects or head boys and girls, everyone is on a level playing field. They can be who they are. And it comes from our foundation of exceptional pastoral care which thrives on the genuine relationships which develop between all members of the community - looking out for one another. A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD As from our founding days, everyone at Frensham is on a level playing field. When you come here, you can just relax and be yourself. The teachers don’t hide behind titles or formal clothes and the children’s individuality isn’t hidden behind uniforms or false respect. Egos are left at the door. The Head, the littlest nursery child, the newest teacher, the shyest sixth former, the part-time TAs, the support staff. Everyone is an equal, important, valued part of the community. Teachers don’t have to spend time telling students to pull up their socks, instead they have conversations, build relationships. Really special relationships built on genuine, mutual respect and interest. Relationships that spark learning. FREEDOM & RESPONSIBILITY Contrary to what many believe, Progressive Education is not without boundaries. Respect underlies everything we do at Frensham; respect that is earned, not demanded or assumed. We give children more freedom than at other schools, but with freedom comes responsibility and we have high expectations of everyone in our community. There is a misconception that a school without uniforms and with children walking together rather than in lines is a school without discipline. It is true that we don’t give detentions and the sanctions we do give out are not done on a whim for minor mistakes. What we do, and this takes much more time and patience, is talk and listen. MAKING MISTAKES Our students make mistakes, everyone makes mistakes and that is okay, it’s how you grow. You own your mistakes, learn from them and move on. But, the first time is a mistake, and the second time is a choice and you will find then that there are consequences at Frensham, just like at every other school. In any other tight-knit community. Being shut down or shut out is an easy option all around. It stops the conversation, shuts the door and doesn’t allow anyone to move forward or grow up. At Frensham, discipline is based on conversations. It’s not an easy, laissez-faire option. These are difficult two way conversations about putting your hands up and owning and accepting your choices, rectifying, moving on and becoming the best version of yourself. The freedom is here to help our students grow into open-minded, courageous, well-rounded individuals and for the most part they stand up and embrace the responsibility and the trust that goes along with that. It is truly refreshing and the perfect opportunity to get ready for life beyond school. - Our Approach | Frensham Heights
Frensham Heights is a progressive school. Learning is active, with students exploring, collaborating, discussing and discovering. Our aim is for all students to become independent learners and take their education and future in their own hands. OUR APPROACH OUR TEACHING & LEARNING We pride ourselves on looking at the whole child. Body, mind and spirit. Every child has potential. Not just a narrow potential to do well in academic tests or behave in a classroom, but each has their own potential far wider than this. An amazing imagination. A keen eye for colour or ear for rhythm. A passion for the environment, for numbers, for human rights, for literature. A natural grace on stage or one that’s still developing. We can miss the mark hugely if we judge children with easy to tick boxes when they undoubtedly have so much more to offer. And so, we offer them a very broad curriculum to let each child follow their own path towards fulfilling their unique potential. Until the end of Year 9, all students will explore a diverse timetable made up of mathematical and scientific, creative and performing, linguistic and literary, physical and technological, moral and spiritual, social and human subjects. All held in equal importance. Our GCSEs and A Levels are equally broad allowing students to create a tailor-made curriculum supporting their passions, strengths and goals. Within the classroom, life is just as diverse. Teachers are supported to be brave and innovative with their teaching. Classes are small allowing topics, activities and discussions to be modified, flexible, adaptable to the students involved. Teachers can break the mould, are encouraged to break the mould. If something’s not working, if interest or understanding is failing, they can stop and discuss. How can we make this interesting for you? How can we make this work? And together they can find that spark that has them all engaged, involved and really learning. Non-competitive classrooms allow the shyest to be more bold and the loudest to be more gentle, more considerate – valuable lessons in their own right. It creates a refreshing place to learn and teach. MEET OUR TEACHERS LEARNING RELATIONSHIPS We talk a lot about relationships at Frensham. To be very honest, and it’s probably clear, we are very proud of the relationships that develop here - they form one of our core values. Not just the schoolmates who go on to be lifelong friends and actually not just the relationships between people. At Frensham, really special relationships grow between teachers and students and from that between students and the subjects they become passionate about during their time here. With a more informal setting and smaller classes, the teachers and students really get to know each other. Literally on a first-name basis. This is important because we ask our students to step up and be more responsible and self-motivated than they may need to be elsewhere. We don’t micro-manage, we do support, but ultimately it’s down to each child to take control of their learning. Teachers learn each child’s strengths and weaknesses. They reinforce where needed and push where they can, but most importantly, they are a friendly face. They genuinely want to help, not to intimidate or belittle. Our teachers love the subjects they teach and they really want to pass that on. Their enthusiasm, interest and passion overflows into their students, particularly those that find they love those subjects too. That genuine shared enthusiasm breaks down barriers to learning. There’s no stigma attached. You can love maths and chat equations with your tutor at break. You can sing your heart out in the corridor on the way to class. No one will judge. You can be really academic or truly creative or both. The support you see here between students, between friends, really can bring tears to your eyes. As long as you do your best, take a few risks, step out of your comfort zone now and then, Frensham can support you with whatever your dreams may be. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT In many ways, on first glance, our classrooms won’t look so different from anywhere else, but on second glance, you might notice that the teacher probably isn’t standing at the front. They’re more likely to be mingled in amongst the students. You might start to notice that the volume is a bit higher, it’s not just the teacher talking, the students – in all year groups – will be discussing and taking part too. Some classes might have gone outside, some might be using the tarmac as a giant blackboard or the woods as a setting for some creative writing. In all cases there will be a flexibility at work allowing the lessons to be moulded to keep everyone’s interest high. In every lesson what will stand out is the genuine relationships between the teachers and students. This develops both from our small class sizes and our more informal approach - our first name basis and sense of equality and mutual respect. This creates a learning environment that is not often found in an academic setting - a positive and safe academic learning environment where students and teachers can be brave and not afraid to take risks or make mistakes. SPORTS OUTDOOR ED CREATIVITY Creativity at Frensham is not limited to the creative subjects. It also sits at the heart of our academics. We strive for creativity of thought in every academic pursuit – to look at things differently, to consider a different approach - this forms one of our core values. We hope each student can find their own way to be engaged, that teachers can find a way to get everyone excited. Beyond that, developing a strong practice of creative thinking is imperative for life after Frensham. We aim to develop each student into a questioning and socially conscious young person. Someone who isn’t scared to challenge the norm, to question and speak up, someone who will make a difference whilst at Frensham and beyond. HOMEWORK Students are set homework if it is meaningful and adds something to their learning. We don't set homework just for the sake of it and sometimes giving students time to simply reflect on their learning can be a powerful tool. However, homework does give students the opportunity to work on essential life skills like organisation, time management and self discipline. It can also provide opportunities to consolidate learning and engage in a topic or independent research. Homework can be extremely valuable but never at the expense of student wellbeing. Our priority is about striking the balance between homework providing academic support but also not becoming overwhelming. We want our students to be able to have time out of school to be children - to rest and play. If we strike the balance right, these are not mutually exclusive. SUPPORT FOR LEARNING We have an excellent Support for Learning team and we are able to offer support to children with mild learning difficulties. Through our entrance process, we will assess whether we can meet the needs of each child - this is to ensure that all students can flourish and thrive during their time at Frensham. We are unable to provide dedicated teaching assistants or one-to-one support in class. We are also unable to support children with moderate or severe learning needs. OUR SEN POLICY

CONTACT ADMISSIONS NURSERY FEES OPEN EVENTS OPENING TIMES The Fireflies Our youngest learners may be small, but they are a big part of life at Frensham Heights. In Fireflies Nursery and Preschool, children are encouraged to follow their curiosity, explore freely and play with freedom. It’s here that their sense of wonder grows and their love of learning first takes flight. Fireflies is an education that keeps imagination alive and curiosity glowing. Children learn that their thoughts matter, their voices are heard and that school is a place filled with joy, kindness and adventure. From Little Learners to Confident Explorers Our Fireflies are fully part of the Frensham community. They use the same beautiful facilities, eat in the same dining hall and perform on the same stage as our older students. They are known, valued and included at every step and this is how their confidence starts to grow and blossom. We celebrate individuality. Our skilled Early Years Team uses a Planning in the Moment approach, responding to children in real time and turning their ideas into meaningful learning. Every activity is designed to be engaging, playful and purposeful. A child fascinated by Bonfire Night might find themselves exploring light and shadow, mixing hot and cold colours, listening to new sounds or even visiting the photography darkroom. No doubt then all topped off with marshmallows at the Forest School fire pit! Our practitioners provide holistic teaching and coverage across all EYFS areas: Personal, Social & Emotional Development Communication & Language Physical Development Literacy Mathematics Understanding the World Expressive Arts & Design A Day at Fireflies Nursery & Preschool Our days are shaped around the children - their interests, their energy and their ideas. With Forest School and outdoor adventure, creative arts and specialist sessions in French, PE, Music, Drama and Dance, every day brings something new. Whether they’re climbing trees, painting masterpieces or visiting our friendly chickens, ducks and goats, Fireflies children enjoy a world full of discovery and a wide variety of unique experiences. Pastoral Care Just like every Frensham child, our Fireflies are recognised as individuals, each with their own pace, passions and personality. Our Early Years team knows each child deeply and thoughtfully adapts to their needs, ensuring every day is meaningful, enriching and full of warmth. Frensham Heights is built on mutual respect. Staff model kindness, patience and genuine attentiveness, creating a culture where every child is heard and valued. With small class sizes and excellent ratios, children have the space to grow, thrive and become confident, joyful and excited learners. Transitioning into Reception Class from Fireflies We don’t want our children to grow-up too quickly and therefore use both Reception and Year 1 as time to transition happily and comfortably from the Fireflies space. Planning and Play in the Moment is still a massive part of our Reception class and the start of Year 1 and gradually this becomes more interspersed with learning moments of phonics, number work and increasing exploration of specific projects from our Junior School Curriculum. Our Fireflies Team Our EYFS staff are knowledgeable, creative and highly qualified, from Level 2 practitioners to postgraduate specialists. They thrive on children’s imagination and energy, creating a learning environment that is playful, stimulating and full of life. Capturing the Journey – Famly We use Famly to create a rich, personal record of every child’s learning. Photos, videos and diary entries allow parents to stay connected to their child’s experiences, from first steps in the Nursery all the way through Preschool and into their primary education. Updated weekly, this journal strengthens the vital home–school relationships and celebrates each child’s unique journey. Outdoor Adventure Our trained forest leaders introduce children to the magic of outdoor learning. With freedom to explore, take small risks and discover the world around them, children develop confidence, curiosity and self-awareness. Every adventure is carefully designed to match their age, stage and sense of wonder. Step into a world of wonder at Fireflies Nursery! Curious about where your little one can truly shine? Come along to one of our Centenary Events, share the story of an Old Frenshamian for our 100 OFs campaign, or explore the beautiful gifts created by our community in the Centenary Gift Shop. However you join in, you’ll be helping to celebrate 100 years of curiosity and creativity. There’s something special about how Frensham began. Three women, full of courage and vision, wanted to do things differently, to break free from the stiff traditions of Victorian education. They chose this beautiful spot, with its wide skies and rolling Surrey Hills, as the place to bring their ideas to life. They knew that children need to move, to explore, to imagine, to ask questions and to be truly heard. That spirit of freedom and curiosity still shapes us today, just as it did when Frensham first opened its doors in 1925. Our Founders Frensham Heights was founded in 1925 by educationalists Beatrice Ensor and Isabel King with the aid of a generous benefactor, Edith Douglas-Hamilton. As Joint Headmistresses, they were passionate about offering an alternative style of education with the child at its heart. A school and a community based on mutual respect, tolerance and generosity of spirit which would educate the whole child – mind, body and spirit. Along the way, there’ll be plenty of favourite traditions like Fireworks Night and the Christmas Fair plus a whole-school Centenary Sports Festival in the summer and our annual musicals and plays that bring the community together, time and time again.
