Being part of a through school - from nursery through Sixth Form - allows our older students to gain confidence, communication skills and solid experience by being mentors to our younger students. Having graduated from Royal Holloway University of London with a BA (Hons) in Drama and Theatre Studies, she worked extensively as a performer, director and writer for the stage, and behind the scenes as Production Designer for film and TV before becoming a teacher. She is an international award winning Face Paint and Special Effects make-up artist and was the Artistic Director for the London Borough of Hillingdon, taking their Our Town project to the Millennium Dome. As the Drama specialist for Waverley Borough Council, Amanda initiated and ran many projects within schools, youth organisations and geographical locations within the borough, including work on the Dream Party project alongside BAFTA nominated producer and director Lawrence Till. Amanda also worked as a writer and performer with the collective Words Allowed, and co-wrote a short film script for the Bristol based Jubilant Creations. As well as teaching, she has also worked extensively with young people in the Performing Arts across the South East as Director of Youth Theatre and creative project leader. Amanda believes that every student should have access to Drama and performance opportunities, and she enjoys working both within the curriculum and on extra-curricular projects across the school. Inspired by ground-breaking and non-traditional theatre, Amanda’s extensive knowledge of performance styles and genres has opened up challenging and exciting opportunities for student performance. She has introduced students to Immersive theatre, and senior school students have worked on site-specific, immersive productions in locations across the school campus as well as within the theatre. Co-written with students from Years 7-13, “The House on Heaven’s Hill” took over the school’s original Edwardian building, Main House, and returned it to a military hospital as it would have appeared in 1915, with every item of set, props and costume creating an authentic experience for an audience to explore. Amanda’s experimental Traverse staging of George Orwell’s 1984 was praised as a “brilliant production” by Michael Radford, the Director of the original 1984 film starring John Hurt, and her Senior School production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream saw an audience seated at picnic tables, complete with traditional 1950’s food and drink, in an auditorium transformed into a forest. During Amanda’s time as Head of Drama at Frensham Heights she has organised residential trips for students to experience a wide variety of Performing Arts, including puppetry in Prague, Shakespeare in Stratford-Upon-Avon, and a week-long intensive physical theatre project with Complicite in a French Chateau! She has also created a Senior Actors’ Company and worked on biannual projects with students to write and produce new theatre to take to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2018 The Scotsman called Amanda’s production of Going Underground “cleverly written….(the characters) brought to life with maturity and compassion”. Although Covid put a temporary stop to the Edinburgh Fringe project, Amanda is planning to revisit this as soon as possible. Amanda has enjoyed working as an Examiner for Performing Arts qualifications, and visiting schools and colleges across the south of England. While many of her students have gone on to enjoy high profile careers as performers and directors, she also believes firmly in the value of Performing Arts as a broader tool for success and self-confidence. To teach drama is to develop a critical awareness, develop an understanding of social contexts, as an expression of culture, and appreciation of acting as a craft. Alongside teaching and raising her young family, she is still a keen actor, appearing regularly locally in various performances with a much loved local amateur dramatics company. He is also a passionate advocate for the importance of drawing in all creative areas, not only as a process leading to a final piece in another medium, but also as a means of expression in itself. As such Neil teaches life drawing to students in years 10 to 13 and also teaches extra curricular classes in drawing for design. Outside of school Neil is a fierce competitor in the sport of wheelchair rugby, is teaching himself computer aided design and manufacturing, enjoys making things out of wood, and battles with two teenage daughters and two energetic dogs. • Music | Frensham Heights

OUR MUSIC SCHOOL As an important part of our curriculum, we want to ensure that every child has the opportunity to listen, perform, explore and enjoy a wide range of music. We have access to a diverse array of specialist teachers, facilities and instruments allowing us to put practical music making at the heart of what we do. OUR MUSIC CURRICULUM Music is a set part of the curriculum from Nursery through Year 9. Students in these years will have at least one dedicated music lesson per week. The curriculum for these years has been recently redesigned to make it more diverse, more practical, more focussed on SMSC, and most importantly, more fun! We now have a dedicated Junior Music specialist teacher, who will focus on Nursery to Year 3 while the rest of our team will share the teaching of Years 4 – 13. Year 5 take part in a Plastic Band scheme where all students have the opportunity to learn a wind instrument with small-group specialist tuition. There is now more of a focus on Music Production and the use of sequencing software in Key Stages 2 and 3, so that our students can develop skills to prepare them for a future in the Music industry, if they wish. Once students leave Year 9, Music is no longer a compulsory part of the curriculum, but they have many options if they wish to continue. Within the Years 10 & 11 timetable, they can opt for our Music GCSE and at Sixth Form they can study Music A-Level and the new Creative Music Industry course. We also have a team of peri teachers who offer private lessons throughout the week. REGISTER FOR PRIVATE MUSIC LESSONS Outside of the timetable, there are a wealth of opportunities both in a range of performances that run throughout the year (see below) and in our extensive extracurricular clubs, such as: Wind Group, Saxophone Ensemble, String Ensemble, Music Tech Club, GCSE Music Drop-In , Senior Band Workshop , Junior Band Workshop , Senior Choir , Junior School Singers and Flute Ensemble. Our aim is to incorporate Music into as many aspects of the school as possible. We have recently purchased a busking speaker to allow our musicians to perform on a whim and there is a jam piano (kindly painted by Year 7 Art students) available outside the Aldridge Theatre. We have also secured a Classical Spotlight at the beginning of each series of Morning Talks which run throughout the year. The Music Department is buzzing with student band rehearsals, and our newly purchased drum kits and amps are getting a lot of use. There are now three rooms that are plug-and-play ready for jamming, and the studio is up and running for recording. • 2022 March Week 3

THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM Friday 18th March, 2022 CLICK TO NAVIGATE SCHOOL MESSAGES SCHOOL EVENTS THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL SPORTS REPORT FRENSHAM KITCHEN NEXT WEEK A MESSAGE FROM RICK Dear Parents Film fans of a certain age will remember ‘Groundhog Day’, in which Bill Murray is doomed to repeat the same day again and again, with hilarious results. Unfortunately, our version of Groundhog Day is far less funny, as Covid rears its head again and we are doomed to repeat some of the challenges we faced earlier in the pandemic. We have a number of students absent, but as you saw from my email this week, it is the staff absences that are causing significant operational problems. It is very likely that some of our normal activities will have to be curtailed, but we are doing our best to minimize disruption. Thank you for your support and understanding with this. On a brighter note, it was wonderful to see a full theatre this week for the Dance Concert on Wednesday. The evening was a sheer delight, from the joy of seeing Year 2 in their very first dance concert to seeing some of our hugely talented GCSE and A Level dancers. Our performing arts provision continues next week with ‘A Night at the West End’, a student-led performance at 7pm on Tuesday 22nd March. Tickets are free and are available here: https://www.frensham.org/events. Tickets can also be booked for the Creative Arts Exhibition and Science Fair on 28th March and the Rock and Pop Gig on the 31st March, so there is plenty going on to keep you entertained right up until the end of the term. Have a wonderful weekend. Best wishes Rick A MESSAGE FROM KATHERINE Dear Parents, So, this seems to be our week for charity! We had a collection for the Farnham Food bank this week, Red Nose Day and the second Toy sale in aid of Malawi. Thank you to all the parents for your support with these events. With so much turmoil in the world it is important that particularly for children they feel like they can make a difference and something is within their control. It was lovely to see so many of our kids and staff in red today and making each other laugh. With rather a low number of staff across the board this week, the staff definitely needed a good lift in their spirits including myself! We have worked as a team as always and kept the plates spinning! Thank you to all of them, the Junior School staff are amazing. I thought I would share with you the amazing Michael Rosen performing his poem ‘Chocolate cake’ because this always makes me laugh and reminds me of my brother who is both cheeky and adores chocolate! A big well done to Lynn’s Performing Arts ECA group and one of Dan’s Year 6 Dance classes for their performances in the Theatre this week. They really were fab, and it brought a smile to everyone’s faces. Well done. I do hope that you all have a good weekend and just a fortnight until the Easter hols! Best wishes, Katherine A MESSAGE FROM HONESTY AND KATHERINE Dear Parents, Please may we request that if you and your children are in the Theatre coffee shop after 3.30pm that the learning of other students is respected. Unfortunately, when younger children are able to run about the theatre unsupervised at this time they disturb the learning of older students whose school day is still in progress. We are also concerned about safety of children in this space. We would kindly ask that parents support this request and help to nurture our 'Spirit of Togetherness' as we respect all students' learning. Thank you! Honesty and Katherine NOTICES SCHOOL MESSAGES PARENTS' VOICE Minutes from the last Parent's Voice meeting are available on the Parent Portal. You can also find them here. Parent Voice would also like to welcome new Year 2 rep Natasha Hill to the group. CAREERS OPPORTUNITY FOR YEAR 12 Do you have an idea for an Etsy type shop? Do you think you can sell more than your peers? Do you have a flair for persuasion? If you’re answering yes, come and speak to Lyall. On Founders’ Day in July, we have two stalls for Year 12 students to show off their entrepreneurial flair. This can be a solo-project or a team effort. Essentially, if you have an idea for a product or service that you could sell through a market stall then come forward. I want to add an element of competition – can you outperform the other team at the other market stall? Imagine you’re auditioning for The Apprentice; here’s your chance to shine. All ideas are welcome, speak to Lyall to help facilitate your vision. Click here for more information CALLING ALL GAMERS! Right now, we’re looking into the possibility of running an ECA involving gaming. Next year we’re launching the eSports qualification which will see a club set up with Tim and directly supporting those students. But what about everyone else? The chance to play games, socially interact, compare types of gameplay, and build in a little bit of maths to devise tournament play and handicap systems to enable everyone to have a fair chance, is a great way of enhancing students’ development and learning. We hope to be able to trial this ECA in the summer term but need a games console to play the games! If you can donate or let us borrow an Xbox of PS5 (with any games and controllers) that would be greatly appreciated and well-received. If we can get hold of one, the club should run! If you can help, let Lyall know . JUNIOR SCHOOL EGG DECORATING EGG-STRAVAGANZA As we near the end of term we would like to invite all families to join in our Egg-stravagant, egg decorating eggs-hibition.. The aim is to create/decorate an egg or eggs in a theme or setting of your choice. All creations need to be no bigger than a shoe box (in order to fit on classroom windowsills and be carried by your child!) If you are an egg-free family please use craft or plastic eggs (seen recently at Squires Garden Centre). Whole family involvement is encouraged! Please see this article from The Guardian for ideas https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/gallery/2013/mar/28/easter-egg-competition-winners-in-pictures No prizes but plenty of glory for creativity and puns! All entries to be submitted to class teachers by Tuesday, 29th March at morning drop off. All creations will be returned to entrants on last day of term, Friday, 1st April. All entries will be photographed, and a gallery will be published in the whole school newsletter. We look forward to seeing your creations and using this to raise community spirits. MALAWI CALLING! They were challenged to create an egg cress-head and to think about what seeds need to germinate and the care of plants as they grow. We can happily share our egg heads are all growing a fine head of cress hair! 1/6 Year 7s also questioned their consumer choices in an enquiry based lesson called ‘Conscious consumers’. The task was to evaluate their food choices and to create a meal plan which had a greater variety of plant based products. They produced some fantastic ideas and suggested some simple, achievable changes! Well done Years 7s! 1/3 Our Year 8s also got hands-on this week! Their activity was a design challenge, ‘Engineering and ecosystem’. Their teamwork discussing best design was translated into a mini terrarium in which they will grow a succulent plant. We’re hoping to see some newly grown succulents in a few weeks time! 1/5 While the challenge was called ‘Making microscopic machines’- achieving the goal of this challenge was anything but small! The Year 9s showed resilience and determination taking on content that was completely new to them and working together to solve the ribbon of amino acids to make a protein! Great effort Year 9s! 1/2 The Year 6s got to enjoy some live chemistry experiments to celebrate Science week! From igniting gas bubbles to the whoosh bottle and screaming jelly baby, the oooohs and ahhhhs and excited chatter were really the best bits! 1/7 Our lunch time activities for Science week have also captivated our students! The pig dissection created a lot of buzz before and after the event. We were able to sign up to a few online talks too which covered a variety of topics from physics and maths to STEM careers. In the beautiful sunshine we had some students measure and chalk out the length or height of some of the largest organisms on the planet! They used a measuring wheel and making some comparisons realised just how small we are! 1/3 DANCE CONCERT And the award goes to… All the brilliant and wonderful performers who danced, sang and performed their hearts out at this week’s Performing Arts Concert. It was a full house and there was magic in the air. Thank you to all the performers and those who gave up their free time to help. It was your talent, fierceness and enthusiasm which made it an evening to be proud of. 1/15 HISTORY TRIP TO CANTERBURY Year 10 and 11 Historians in lieu of a trip to France and Belgium Battlefields trip, the students were taken to First and Second World War sites in Kent. Sites included the very moving military cemetery at Shorncliffe, the Battle of Britain museum and the Hawthorn Trench. This trench is a replica of one in France and was used in various films during lockdown and been visited by lots of other schools. This gave the students a real sense of trench life. At the same farm, they had been lambing. The students had the bonus opportunity to cuddle the lambs. The students behaved brilliantly particularly at the YHA. On the Saturday, the team explored the tunnels at Dover Castle which have a rich History from Napoleonic times through to the nuclear age, then the Spitfire museum and the tunnels under Ramsgate where the town sheltered during the war. Overall it was great for the students to get out on a rich and varied experience. 1/7 GERMAN PLAY: HOROSKOP Students of German enjoyed a play by the Onatti theatre company in the Aldridge theatre on Wednesday. The play was all about whether we should believe our horoscopes or not, and was great fun and very interactive! Students understood most of the language and it was great to hear them interacting in German with the actors! This play was performed by two native German actors. The spoken German was delivered slowly and clearly. We wanted our students to be able to follow the story, sustain their enjoyment and above all boost their confidence. The plot highlighted many similarities to our student’s lives, but in a humorous and exaggerated manner, making them relatable and increasing their enjoyment by empathising with the characters and storylines. 1/6 SPANISH PLAY: EN EL CAMPAMENTO This week Frensham Heights welcomed the Onatti Theatre group to the Aldridge Theatre. On Thursday, our year 8-13 students were treated to a highly engaging and entertaining play conducted entirely in Spanish. This play was performed by two native Spanish actors. The spoken Spanish was delivered slowly and clearly. We wanted our students to be able to follow the story, sustain their enjoyment and above all boost their confidence. The plot highlighted many similarities to our students ‘lives, but in a humorous and exaggerated manner, making them relatable and increasing their enjoyment by empathising with the characters and storylines. The play was accompanied with worksheets. They contained a synopsis of the play, some extracts from the written script and some useful words and phrases. 1/9 A-LEVEL PHOTOGRAPHY Years 12 & 13 photography students have been very creative in the Studio this week. 1/6 YEAR 9 ART Looking at the positive in our world. Year9 have designed and made post cards this week. 1/1 JUNIOR SCHOOL CERAMICS ECA Our Junior School ceramicists have been busy creating some wonderful Easter egg cups and dishes 1/8 GREENPOWER UPDATE This week we finished off the chain guard that protects the driver from the chain breaking and the spinning axel sprocket and motor sprocket. This was prototyped in card, then lasercut in card and then finally laser cut using fluted polypropylene, this is both good for protection and lightweight. The engineers worked on setting up the steering wheel with the throttle mechanism, hand grips, horn and press button for pit to car communications. Getting the steering set up was very fiddly and quite time-consuming but we managed it! We will need to make sure the tracking is aligned, maybe next week, to ensure the wheels are parallel to each other and give the best rolling resistance possible. Alex researched the transponder and telemetry company that will be supplying live times during race days. He looked at the previous season data and got familiar with navigating the website, ready for when we race on Sunday 8th May at Goodwood. Next week we hope to remove the rear axle and front end now we know it works and fit the bodywork. Written by Callie 7SVC 1/3 FARNHAM HELP FOR REFUGEES Tutor group 7SVC we were inspired after the morning talk covered the Holocaust and the issues refugees continue to face today. Trish from Farnham Help for Refugees came to talk to us during tutor time to help us organise donation collections for the charity. We ended up with around 200 bags filled with clothes and toiletries to send and it took us over 4 hours to sort through it all and load the van! Linn, Sarah, Barnaby, Polly and Theo went to the church on Friday after school to help unload the van and sort donations at the church. The charity were inundated with donations and ran out of boxes so more work is needed. As our first fundraising effort to support the ongoing work of this charity, Farnham Help for Refugees are asking for a donation of £6 per box to help continue their efforts. 7SVC will continue to support the efforts by continuing to sort donations as an when boxes arrive. Click here to sponsor a box if you would like to help to support the amazing work of this charity. Thank you to our whole SVC team with all the help and to the other year 7’s who came to help sort through donations. Go year 7! Well done everyone!!! Callie 7SVC 1/4 SMALL ISLAND AT THE NATIONAL THEATRE We were fortunate enough to be able to secure a small number of tickets to the press preview event of Small Island earlier this month. Limited by availability, we were only able to take a small group, where we approached, in the first instance, those who were on the scholars list for academics or drama (in Year 11 and sixth form), and then those boarders who were felt have contributed to the wider life of school and would benefit and enjoy this amazing opportunity. A fabulous evening in an amazing theatre - an adaptation of a great book. Challenging in some places as we were reminded of some parts of our history, that today do not sit comfortably with most of us. However the play also had some amazing humour and showed a lovely side to characters and their genuine compassion and care. 1/9 SPORTS REPORT THIS WEEK'S SPORTS REPORT National Rowing Competition It was great week for the Pendred family with all three siblings in action at a National rowing competition (The Junior Sculling Head) at Dorney Lake yesterday. THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM Friday 26th November, 2021 CLICK TO NAVIGATE SCHOOL MESSAGES SCHOOL EVENTS THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL SPORTS REPORT MENUS NEXT WEEK A MESSAGE FROM RICK Watch Rick's Video Message RICK KATHERINE A MESSAGE FROM KATHERINE Spotlight on the Junior School Dear Frensham Community, Well, that was a busy week! As you will see there have been birds of prey flying at Frensham and a fabulous author visiting to talk to our children about refugees. The children in the Junior School have been inspired by so many things this week and it was wonderful to share them in our assembly today. We also spoke about how it is important to have a go, make mistakes and turn them into a positive. I shared the amazing book ‘Beautiful oops’ with them which is all about how a mistake might actually open up a new possibility. At Frensham we want our children to be happy to take risks, make mistakes and grow from them just like us as grown-ups! We're also wondering if anyone in our amazing community knows someone lovely who lives locally and would be able to join our team in January to work in our Nursery – Year 3 Late Stay. It would suit someone who would love to come and play, laugh and create things for just two hours every afternoon from 3:30-5:30. They do not need qualifications but experience with younger children would be great even if that's not in a school setting. Perhaps a wonderful grandparent in the local area would be interested in some company (the teachers and children are a delightful bunch who will always brighten up anyone’s day!). Do please push our advert out to anyone you think would be suitable, thank you in advance for any help you can give. www.frensham.org/working-at-frensham Lastly, a big thank you to FoF for your secret squirrel mission to make Christmas special for the children in the Junior School. Thank you for everything you are doing. Have a lovely stormy weekend! Katherine NOTICES SCHOOL MESSAGES Dropping Off at Reception If you're dropping off or picking up your child at Reception, please drive really carefully and slowly in the area in front of Main House - students and staff are crossing this area at all times of the day. Also, please don't park right in front of the glass Reception doors. Thank you! Christmas Dates to Remember! We're planning lots of festive things, big and little, things for the students in the run up to the Christmas break. Many will be a surprise, but here are a few dates to remember: Friday 3rd - Christmas Jumper Day Friday 10th - Snuggly PJ Day Tuesday 14th - Yrs 4-6 Christmas Showcase + Yrs 7-9 Dinner Dance Wednesday 15th - Christmas Sparkle (clothing / outfits) + Yrs N-3 Chrismas Play + Yrs 10-13 Dinner Dance Thursday 16th - Junior School Christmas Lunch Malawi 2023 On Tuesday evening we officially launched the trip online to Malawi in 2023. Tom from True Adventure presented details of the trip, pinpointing the area, identifying some of the activities we will be undertaking and giving information about this small but beautiful part of Africa. We are opening the trip to any student who is in this years Year 10 and above. Below are the links to the presentation slides shown on Tuesday evening and the parents information pack. PRESENTATION SLIDES PARENTS' INFORMATION PACK If you decide that this unique trip is for you, please fill in the application form by Friday 3rd December. I am hoping that we will be able to have a team get together before we stop for Christmas to start the ball rolling! If anyone has any questions, I have set up a Malawi 2023 team on Teams. I am so looking forward to forming the team and putting plans into action with everyone. Have a great weekend and I hope to hear from you soon, Sally Elevate Memorisation Webinar If you missed the Elevate Memorisation Webinar on Tuesday, you have 10 days to watch the session here - Memorisation Webinar A Big Thank You From Friends of Frensham A big thank you to some of our parents who have been so generous in their donations to our Christmas raffle. Shyne (Year 7 parent) who runs the annual music festival in Guildford on June 3rd & 4th has given us a voucher worth £150 to attend the 2 day event. For more information go to the website http://www.shynefest.uk/ Also Sara (Year 7 parnet) has donated some of her fragrant vegan and cruelty free candles which smell amazing. www.theuniversalsoulcompany.com Another big thank you is to parents in Junior school who are working together to deliver the “swap shop” where the JS students can chose presents for their parents and have them gift wrapped ready for Christmas Day, and a super decorated Santa’s grotto where Santa will greet the students ready to check they are ready for the big day. We have also had a Christmas tree to make the area more festive donated by Castle Street Flowers in Farnham. Christmas Raffle As we approach Christmas, Friends of Frensham are running our fundraising raffle. We have been incredibly lucky to have some amazing events and gifts donated to us from some of our parents, from festival tickets for a family of 4 to Shynefest, to gifts from the Universal Soul company, who sell a stunning range of non-toxic vegan fragrance products of candles and room fragrances. We also have a Christmas hamper, wine gifts and much more. The raffle tickets can be bought on the link here: Christmas Raffle Tickets Christmas Puddings Thank you for your support with Friends of Frensham Christmas puddings this year. We have beaten the past 2 years figures! If you have not ordered your puddings in the set timeline, do not worry. We have ordered some additional puddings to sell in the last week of term in the Aldridge theatre during the Junior School Christmas performances, and also at the music and dance performance on 9th December at the Aldridge theatre. Rowledge Community Choir If you would like to join a friendly choir (no auditions required), Rowledge Community Choir rehearses every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm in the Music School. The choir is currently rehearsing pieces of Christmas music for our Christmas concert on 14th December in St James’ Church, Rowledge. The choir is led by Sam Rolles, a former Frensham pupil, and his father, Edwin, who was formerly Director of Music at Frensham Heights. The cost is £5 per session. Come along for a free taster session. Any tenors or basses particularly welcome. Please see our website: rowledgecommunitychoir.co.uk or contact Liz Bownass-Clark: liz@frensham.org . UPCOMING SCHOOL EVENTS EVENTS PETER PAN - THURS 2 & FRI 3 DECEMBER We began exploring the story of Peter Pan in our Yr 7 & 8 Drama club and we are now bringing you a creative play that the teachers and children have developed whilst meeting together. We have tried to bring this to the stage at a minimal cost to the environment asking the children to make their costumes from re-using, recycling or buying items from charity shops. The set has been designed by Dolly Moon-Kilner in Year 8 and is being built by Shaun and Nicky from our very own Aldridge Theatre using as few new items as possible. Please look out for wood reclaimed from the outdoor theatre and old pieces of set that have been altered to suit this play. All in all - a production with everyone sharing ideas and thinking of the planet whilst enjoying being together rehearsing and performing. Monies raised will be going to Great Ormond Street Hospital, an extremely worthwhile cause. Buy tickets here MUSIC & DANCE CONCERT - 9TH DECEMBER It's time for our Music and Dance Concert. Come along and see the Aldridge alive again with Music and Dance Performances from our Years 7 and up students. Tickets are free, but please book a place below. Set to Jeff Wayne’s iconic soundtrack, this part live-action, part VR/AR production amazed, amused and terrified students in equal measure. Here’s a photo of those that survived the experience! A BIT OF BAKING WITH THE BOARDERS Some of our boarders made some delicious looking cookies with Stef over the weekend. CYBERFIRST GIRLS COMPETITION Starting on Monday, 2 teams of girls are going to be taking part in the National Cyber Security Centre CyberFirst Girls competition. The competition takes place over a period of 10 days and the teams will face a series of online challenges aimed at testing their skills on different areas of cyber security, such as cracking code and working through logic problems. With less than 15% of the workforce in cyber security being female, the primary objective of the competition is to inspire girls to consider career options they may not have thought about. Sarah Cull (Head of IT and Computer Science) has been working alongside a school mum, Paula Page, who is the director of her own Cyber Security company to inspire the girls and to make them aware of potential exciting career opportunities available to them if they enjoy the competition. “This is an incredible opportunity for the girls to try something new and I am hoping they will enjoy the challenges the face over the next 10 days and build some resilience and teamwork skills, as well as their technical skills” explained Sarah. To find out more about the NCSC and what they can offer to all students, visit https://www.ncsc.gov.uk/cyberfirst/overview HADRIAN'S WALL MEDALS To celebrate the success of their trip to Hadrian's Wall in September and the amazing Time Traveller's Guides to Roman Britain, Year 7 students were all awarded with gold ceramic medals made by Amy and Sonia. The students also really enjoyed seeing some of the photos they captured on the trip. MFL PLAYS The MFL department have organised for students studying French, Spanish and German to watch plays performed by Onatti Productions. French students watched Mon Père Ne Me Comprend Pas on 5th November. Spanish students were set to watch En el Campamento today (but this has been postponed for a bit due to postive Covid cases in the cast) and German students will get to watch Horoskop in March. YEAR 8 ART Making decisions this week about how to arrange collage pieces to get best visual results. Considering balance, chaos, jumbles and more. YEAR 7 ART Absolutely amazing work from Year7 whilst we draw our animals and consider how best to simplify shapes and add pattern. We'll done year7. YEAR 5 KESTRELS On Thursday Year 5 welcomed Andy Crowle from Urban Wings to Frensham. Andy is a falconer and he brought two kestrels called Tee-ki and Gizmo with him. He also brought a peregrine falcon called Gus. As part of their Tudor topic this term, the children have been listening to a story set in Tudor times called ‘Treason’ by Berlie Doherty. The main character is given a kestrel by Henry VIII. Andy talked to the children about the stunning birds of prey. He explained that many phrases and words we have such as ‘hoodwinked,’ ‘fed up,’ ‘under your thumb,’ ‘wrapped around your little finger,’ and ‘end of my tether’ originate from the world of falconry. He also explained that servants would have had kestrels, but Royalty would have had the more expensive birds such as the peregrine. He told the children that people would be seen walking in the street with a bird of prey on their hand. The children asked Andy many questions and they were able to wear a thick gauntlet so that Tee-ki could fly and land on them to take a morsel of chicken or Gus could perch comfortably. It was a super afternoon, sunny but cold. We hope that it will be possible to welcome Urban Wings back to Frensham in the future. Please flick through the photos taken during the afternoon. THIS WEEK IN SCIENCE Year 7s have been investigating types of waves. They used slinkies to demonstrate the motion of these types of waves. Year 8 are exploring density and pressure. We constructed a Cartesian diver and observed the effects of increased pressure on buoyancy. Some of our Year 9s have been discovering osmosis and how the mass of potatoes change depending on the concentration of the solution they’re in. Year 11s have dived into learning about the inheritance of genetic traits by building reebop marshmallow organisms based on the genes inherited. YEAR 9 HORIZONS - CAREERS AND GCSE OPTIONS On 17th and 24th November in their Developing Horizons lessons, Year 9 spent time thinking about careers and their future pathway at Frensham. As part of this, they heard from the teachers who lead the 'new' options that will be on offer for them in September 2023. These subjects are Esports, Business, Performing Arts, Sports Studies, Computer Science, Graphic Communication and Photography. The Year 9 students were engaged throughout and asked a number of excellent questions. There was a definite buzz around school following this as they excitedly looked through the options booklets and digested what they had learned. The student feedback was very positive: "The sessions were good, the options session helped me understand about the process and how it works. It was interesting to learn about the new courses that I haven't studied." "I enjoyed it because I learned more about the subjects I could do." – Lexie "I definitely think it was useful as it widened my views on what I can take." – Heidi YR R & 1 FRENCH A group of dinosaurs came to French last week! Inspired by our one third story “How the dinosaur got it’s shoes”, Years R and 1 put on their masks for a video performance where they introduced themselves in French and talked about their own chaussures. The have been learning numbers, colours, introductions, simple instructions and adjectives whilst reading about Terrance T-Rex, designing masks and running around the playground hunting for my shoes! They have been fantastique!! TEALIGHTS IN CERAMICS Years 6 - 9 have been making animal tea light/candle holders, ready to light up the dark evenings. ADVENT CALENDAR Hamilton House is getting festive with the addition of Debbie's fantastic handmade advent calendar! YEAR 6 AUTHOR VISIT In Year 6 we have been learning about refugees. Last week we were joined by Danielle (Draven’s mum) who talked to us about her work in Calais, shared lots of her own experiences as well as those of people she has worked with along the way. She shared several stories with us, including one about her friend who is a UN worker and had to return to England in a refrigeration van. Year 6 really enjoyed this and were able to link lots of their learning from topic, English and art lessons. We have been inspired by our learning and want to support local refugee families and have been in touch with Farnham help for Refugees and Farnham Foodbank. We discussed this with Olivia, who was hoping to complete a reverse advent calendar, and have decided to put our ideas together. From the 1st – 10th December we will be collecting items, we would love it if the children in the Junior school could bring a different item in each day and there will be collection spots in the Junior School Hall and 4-6 atrium. We have asked what they would find most useful, and they have said: UHT cows’ milk, long life fruit juice, orange squash, chocolate bars, sweets, snacks (not nuts), tinned carrots, tinned peas and tinned tomatoes. Look out for our posters around school for any more information. Today Ele Fountain, author of Boy87, came to speak with us as part of the enrichment programme. • July Week 1 2023 | Frensham Heights

THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM Friday 7th July, 2023 A MESSAGE FROM LAURA Dear Parents, As we end another academic year, we look back on all that we have learned; the challenges that we have faced and overcome, the disappointments that have been turned into opportunities and the celebrations for our achievements. Throughout all of this, we have grown a little bit more into the person that we are meant to be. As we continue on our journeys over the summer, I wish you peace, rest and happiness. To those of you leaving us, remember you have played a very special part in Frensham's history and will continue to play a part in its future. To those of you who are returning in September, I look forward to welcoming you back to our wonderful Frensham. Best wishes Laura A MESSAGE FROM NICK CLICK FOR NICK'S MESSAGE SAFEGUARDING WITH JACK AND JO As we end the school year we want to thank you for all your support as endeavour to do all we can to keep your children safe at school. Taking on this responsibility from Becks has been a big responsibility and taken a lot of time and effort but with something this important we know it is worth it. The new update of the government guidance for 2023 focuses on online safety and so as we release the children into your care for the Summer we thought it worth giving you a few pointers on where to get respected and trustworthy advice on this topic. The following websites are really good and have sections for parents as well as schools to help us all understand the online world and the risks involved: https://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/ ; https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety ; Parent Zone | At the heart of digital family life . Remember, that while your children may have more knowledge about apps or social media, you have more life experience and common sense to help guide them through this world. We hope you have a great summer and stay safe throughout. See you in September! NOTICES SCHOOL NOTICES A MESSAGE FROM THE MUSIC SCHOOL A few things for the last weekly newsletter of this academic year! First and foremost: WOW!!! Please contact Sally to organise: SallyVivian@frensham.org POSITIVE FEEDBACK As another term draws to a close we have the pleasure of sharing all the wonderful feedback that Parent Voice have collated via the QR code throughout the term. Since half term we added another step to the process so that we now send a Thank a Teacher Postcard every time a post comes through on the QR code. This ensures that the members of staff are getting their thank you direct and at the right time. We have also provided Laura and Nick with a full version of the document so that they can be sure to thank each of the specific members of staff themselves aswell. Receiving positive feedback really does make a difference and really puts a spring in the staff members step so do please keep them coming. Click to read the feedback. RESIDENTIAL TRIPS - LOOKING AHEAD We are very lucky that we have a large number of staff who are very happy to run school trips that enrich our school experience – including over weekends and holidays. We know that trips require a lot of planning and in general residential trips are scheduled a year in advance so that we can organise them and allow you time to plan/save as neede. Below is a live link to our working document that shows our plans so far. The further ahead the trip – the less details we may have – but hopefully it goes someway to help give the overview. 2023-2024 TRIPS THANK A TEACHER! The Thank a Teacher campaign recognises all staff working in UK schools and colleges; school leaders, teachers, teaching assistants, and all support staff such as lunchtime supervisors, caretakers and cleaners. If you’re feeling shy you can send a card anonymously! Click here to send a thank you. POSITIVE FEEDBACK Got something amazing to shout about? EVENTS FRIENDS OF FRENSHAM THIS WEEK THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM FOUNDERS' DAY 2023 GOLD DofE Students showed real resilience on the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition in North Wales over the weekend. The weather was the worst that the staff had seen in over ten years. Very windy, cold and wet with often limited visibility. Hard to believe that it was July. The team of Caspar, Miles, George, Will and Louis did brilliantly. Their navigation and fitness were entirely suitable for the conditions. They developed well as a team and produced an extraordinary video about Snowdonia. A five day expedition that will stay with the students for years to come – hopefully in a good way. 1/5 AGAMEMNON Last week saw the culmination of a Years 7 to 9 Drama ECA led by Adam Jennings. It was an innovative, collaborative process which led to an amazing, brave, creative performance from all the students involved. 1/40 STUDENT V STAFF HOCKEY 1/10 MATHS WORKSHOP This week nearly all Y7-Y10 took place in some interactive Maths workshops in Neville hall. These were great fun and got the students working collaboratively all a huge variety of problems. There was a real buzz as the students worked really hard solving problems and it was a lovely way to end the term. Well done to all those that took part. 1/6 YEAR 7 SCIENCE Year 7 have had another great week in science classes, some have been making a pH indicator (to distinguish acids from alkalis) out of red cabbage. Others have been making hand cream, Methane bubbles and electricity circuits with buzzers. 1/9 BOARDERS BREAKFAST On Founders Day we had our first boarding parent breakfast event. This was a lovely opportunity for boarding staff, students and parents to sit and chat. The event was well attended and will become a regular feature on Founders Day. Thank you to everyone who came! 1/5 GREENPOWER On Sunday 25th June the Frensham Heights Greenpower team travelled to the Lotus test track in Hethel, Norfolk to race against other schools, colleges and private entrants. The team were as enthusiastic as ever and worked amazingly well together to get the car through scrutineering and into the practice session. After the Goodwood heat the car underwent repairs and it was the first time getting it out on track again. David took the lead and carefully navigated his way out. He completed 3 laps of the Hethel circuit and commented that the car felt great, phew! Race one went very well, the team finished in 3rd place (in class) and were narrowly beaten by two other very well organised teams. The race lasted 90 minutes and three drivers had the opportunity to negotiate the Hethel circuit. After a slight gear alteration race two started well and the following pit stops were slick. With 12 minutes to go until the checkered flag Greenpower cut the race short for reasons we still don’t know! We finished in 4th place (in class) which was a bit disappointing as our races tend to come alive towards the final 10 minutes – careful preparation goes into ensuring the gearing and the overall car set-up is on point for the full 90 minutes. Greenpower then calculated the furthest distance from either race one or race two and the team finished in 3rd place (in class) overall. This is particularly exciting as they’ve now automatically qualified for the international final in October at Goodwood! Well done team! Huge thanks to the parents that helped on the day with setting up and packing away, your efforts were much appreciated. The next races are at Dunsfold on 10th September and Castle Combe on 17th September, updates to follow. 1/9 UNDERWATER HOCKEY Charlie (Year 9) and Max (Year 7) are both competed in the British Octopush Association Junior Nationals in Leeds on 1st July. It was an all day championship with Max competing in the U14 team for the South East and Charlie in the U16s. They both came 4th in their teams. Well done! 1/1

THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM Friday 10th March, 2023 CLICK TO NAVIGATE SCHOOL MESSAGES SCHOOL EVENTS THIS WEEK AT SCHOOL SPORTS REPORT FRENSHAM KITCHEN NEXT WEEK A MESSAGE FROM RICK Dear Parents Thank you very much for the good wishes I have received this week as my family and I plan our exciting move to Somerset. I appreciate that the news of my departure from Frensham may have been surprising, but as you all know, Laura and I have been working closely together for the last four years, and I continue to work with Laura and the Governors to ensure a smooth handover by the end of term. Please see a message from Laura below. The much anticipated snow finally arrived this week, and inevitably caused challenges for us all. As Becks said, making a decision on school closure is never easy, and we are sorry that it caused inconvenience. I do hope that your children managed to have some fun in the snow, something we see at Frensham as an important rite of passage. Thank you to the residential and catering staff who did a fantastic job of looking after the boarders so well. I had a wonderful time joining in a mass snowball fight with boarders on the astro with a few other staff members; some of the students were delighted that they had a chance to pelt staff with snowballs, but we managed to get in a few good shots too! Senior School students heard an excellent Morning Talk today from Lyall, Head of Business Studies and Head of Careers, on the world of work during National Careers Week. Our guest speaker was Jamie Pollard-Jones from Challenger Escapes , who spoke about his varied career and his experiences as an entrepreneur. I hope the students were inspired by his story – there were some excellent messages that chimed perfectly with our school values on being true to yourself and having the courage of your convictions. In just over a week’s time, it is the Friends of Frensham Ball. Thank you to the parents who have been hard at work preparing for what promises to be an excellent evening. Please do get involved in the silent auction by visiting www.easydonate.org/fof_ball to bid on some of the fantastic items that have been donated. Remember that all funds raised go back to the school for the benefit of all children, and to a very worthy cause in the Eikon Charity. Have a wonderful weekend. Best wishes Rick A MESSAGE FROM LAURA Dear Parents and Carers, I hope by now you have seen the letter sent by the Chair of Governors on Monday, and I am now very happy to write to you as incoming Acting Head of Frensham from next term. I appreciate that the news of Rick’s decision to leave Frensham will have been a surprise to many of you. Rick has been a massive part of school life for more than four years and has seen the school through the very difficult period of the global pandemic. I would like to join all of you in wishing Rick and his family the very best as they prepare their move to Somerset. I am continuing to work closely with Rick to ensure there is a smooth transition during the remainder of this term. I thought it might be useful for me to introduce myself to those parents who may not have had direct contact with me, and also to outline some of my experience which I believe will ensure we can, not just maintain Frensham as the school that develops well rounded, confident and happy children, but also grow, develop and thrive in the future. I have been working in education for the past 18 years in various teaching and management positions, the last four of which have been at Frensham Heights as Deputy Head (Academic). Prior to this I worked in various business roles, working in PR, communications and marketing in both the financial services and charity sectors. Having worked in various types of schools, from state provision in low income areas to a very academically selective independent boys school, I am so happy to be at home at Frensham. It's about balance, opportunity and individual relationships. Frensham provides a broad education, and opportunity for each student to find their spark, their future, whatever their specific talents and challenges. I look forward to sharing examples of that fundamental Frensham tenet with you in the coming months The last four years have been challenging and hugely rewarding for me. My aim now is to ensure that we continue to build on all that we have achieved, continue to listen to you as our parents, and continue to develop an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Frensham is an extraordinary school, with extraordinary students – I've taught many of them - and extraordinary teachers and staff who give absolutely everything to provide the type of education you want for your children. I know that because I want it too. Both my daughter and son attend Frensham and are absolutely thriving. I am passionate about working with governors to continue to uphold and develop all that makes Frensham unique. The next few weeks will be a time for me to continue to learn, to work closely with Rick and the governors, and to plan the short and medium term future of the school. I look forward to getting to know every parent here at Frensham in the coming weeks and months. Best wishes Laura A MESSAGE FROM NICK CLICK FOR NICK'S MESSAGE NOTICES SCHOOL NOTICES **FRENSHAMS GOT TALENT - RESCHEDULED FOR MONDAY 13TH MARCH AT 6PM** MOCK INTERVIEW DAYS - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED We are looking for some more volunteers for mock interview days. THIS WEEK THIS WEEK AT FRENSHAM BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Last week saw our absolutely spectacular production of Beauty and the Beast. It was a true Frensham experience with students and staff coming together onstage, back stage, in the box, in the orchestra pit and behind the bar to go above and beyond, as always. Audiences at all performances were astounded and amazed yet again by the courage and talent that develops at our school. Huge well done and thank you to everyone involved. 1/173 FRENSHAM IN THE SNOW The boarders and residential staff shared some wonderful photos of our beautiful school in the snow. 1/32 YEAR 4 TRIP TO HENLEY FORT This week Year 4 went on their first residential to Henley Fort. The trip was linked to their topic of World War 2. The children were polite, well behaved and a real asset to Frensham Heights! During our trip the children enjoyed becoming ARP Wardens – putting out fires, experiencing blackouts, dealing with injuries and bombing raids. They also enjoyed some wartime cookery, digging for victory and learning about women in the war. Their final training was to become part of the Homeguard – they learnt to march, throw grenades, set up road blocks and charge. They also slept in Yurts and woke up to a blanket of snow, which increased the excitement and made the trip even more fun! It was an amazing experience for all of the children. 1/9 GREENPOWER This week the Greenpower team were thrilled to start to find out what we were doing next. This week Harrison and Elijah put the motor in whilst Aragon attached the 4-point seatbelt harness and worked on pumping the tires up to the correct PSI. Frankie put the headrest in and Ava and Maria fitted the steering wheel column. Nearer the end of the session the whole team worked together to put the body panels on as this was quite a time consuming, tricky job. Team profile: Name: CJ Likes: Climbing Dislikes: Football Favorite subject: ICT Why I applied: I thought it would be a great opportunity to practice ICT and DT, I also thought it would be a great and fun, exciting experience. 1/2 NEW ARRIVALS IN THE EARLY YEARS We were super excited by the arrival of the duck eggs on Monday and have watched intently through the window of the incubator to see if we may see any hatch. Unfortunately, we were not lucky to catch any hatching in action, but we have had a lovely surprise in the mornings to come into class and see our ducklings – three in total, so far. They have absolutely captured the children’s, and adults, attention this week. Watch the livecam here. 1/10 CAREERS WEEK This week it’s National Careers Week, so Lyall – our Head of Careers – led the morning talk. He gave an overview of what Careers at Frensham looks like. Careers guidance is the process of helping our students make educational and employment choices with an understanding of how to achieve their end goal and next steps; whether they’re in Year 2 or Year 12 – everyone can look at how their interests can lead to the next steps in life. Lyall discussed skills for life and what we currently provide under the Careers banner such as Tea and Biscuits (the conversational audience with industry experts with Q&A), the Unifrog website, a cyber security day, a palaeontologist visit, university fairs, Morrisby profiling, and careers day workshops including mock interviews. We were delighted to be joined by guest speaker Jamie Pollard-Jones, the Managing Director of Challenger Escapes , who was originally in the army before setting up a corporate escape room agency supporting clients’ marketing, training and internal communications. He spoke about the risk and reward of launching a business and adapted Katharine Whitehorn’s definition of a “career” to his own version – a more realistic approach… 1/2 A really interesting listen, with the key to creating an experience, and how to turn your business idea into your career. Thanks again to Jamie for coming to talk to us on Friday. For any careers’ related questions about what we offer at Frensham, please contact Lyall LANGUAGES IN EARLY YEARS We have had great fun in Junior Languages this week! Reception learnt about Henri Matisse and produced their own pieces of art using his famous “cut out” style. 1/5 YEAR 9 POWERFUL POSES " am interested in a political art, that is to say an art of ambiguity, contradiction, uncompleted gestures and uncertain ending - an art (and a politics) in which optimism is kept in check, and nihilism at bay." Willam Kentridge May 2022 Students were inspired by the work of South African artist William Kentridge, in particular how he animates, draws and redraws the figure, changing ground, scale, and medium. As elusive as it is allusive, Kentridge's art is shaped by apartheid and grounded in the politics of the post-apartheid era, and in science, literature and history, while always maintaining space for contradiction and uncertainty. He says, "There was an absurdity to the basic logic of apartheid that we grew up with. There was something wrong with the logic, and that false logic then gets carried through to the nth degree-with pencils in people's hair, with the fifty-two different categorisations of what races were. So, the absurd was built in. We understood that the absurd was where we lived." Students struck and photographed powerful and emotive poses to convey feelings about their positions as young people in our rapidly changing world, using acrylic paint to develop their work. We hope you enjoy exploring the work as much as they enjoyed making it. 1/6 FOREST SCHOOL Nursery and Reception kickstarted off the week with epic adventures. We explored body movement in different directions, looking specifically how to safely scale a roped ladder and discussed different views from different heights. Reception also got creative with clay creating woodland creatures or plants. Finnaly we capped the session of with more fun in the leaf piles beofre heading home. Year 2 had an amazing time setting up a shelter, learning about the different materials, knots and techniques to erect a tarp shelter. Within Year 4s lesson, we discussed alternative games we could play in the woods and concluded on an epic game of 40-40. The remainder of time was spent sharing imaginative stories about the Frensham Woods. Finally Year 5 concluded the week with a wonderfull orienteering lesson. We discussed features on a map, their proximity to other features and how we can use this knowledge to make informed decisions when challenged to find an object hidden by their partners. Due to the constant challenge and energetic nature of this lesson, all children thoroughly loved this type of learning. 1/16 #SAVE THE BEES Students were introduced to the work of street artists from across the world especially ROA, Shepard Fairey and Banksy. Contemporary art has long been a vehicle used to highlight various social issues that affect society. On the graffiti covered walls that surround Brick Lane and Shoreditch High Street Station, organisers of the Save the Bees Project are using large-scale murals to draw attention to the future of bees. Using a limited colour palette students were inspired by street art being used to convey a message and the concept of paste ups which has influenced this work on display. We hope you enjoy the diverse range of outcomes. 1/3 LOST PROPERTY Please see a collection of unnamed lost property. Please email amylee@frensham.org to claim anything that's yours. 1/4 SPORTS REPORT SPORTS REPORT Department CPD Last week Rory headed to a sport in prep schools conference, and I attended the PADSIS Director if Sports gathering. It was great to spend a couple of days speaking to over 200 fellow directors of sports to talk current affairs. There were various seminars on SOCS, Girls Sport, What Co-Educational sport actually means, building a culture of health and fitness as well as updates from NGB’s and some fantastic guests’ speaker. One of which was BBC journalist Betty Glover who spoke passionately about her difficulties in gaining the respect as a female journalist in a male dominated field of sport. Fortunately that landscape is changing at a rapid rate and the opportunities for careers in sport are open to everybody U14 Hockey v St Edmunds Frensham U14 hockey welcomed St Eds to the Astro on Tuesday afternoon. They came up against tough opposition, with a couple of tricky forwards but put in a good performance. St Ed's started the game the stronger and took a couple of early chances to find themselves in the lead at half-time. In the second half, Frensham mounted a comeback, goals coming from Charlie, Imogen and Zara following some great attacking moves. Adrian defended resolutely at the back, but unfortunately the opposition came on strong and finished the game 6-3 winners. Well done to all. U13 Football v Priors Field The U13 girls football team were back in action on Thursday evening following the disappointment of the girl’s football festival being cancelled due to snow. Matilda, Nell and Jess lead the team through a thorough warm up in the pouring rain and the game was underway. The game was an even affair with possession swinging between the two teams, both of which were trying the play the right way passing their way through the pitch. Chances came for both teams, but Priors field forwards made them count. The opposition keeper also made a couple of excellent saves to keep Frensham out. The scoreline of 4-0 didn’t reflect the game, with Frensham putting in a really positive and hardworking performance. It's brilliant to see the progress these girls are making and their enthusiasm for the game. Well done all. U13 Football v Gordon's and St Nicholas This were our first matches this year and the girls were all really excited for them. They started both games with amazing energy and determination. Our defenders Kathryn and Maria were excellent in the tackle and also really started to pass the ball well. Matilda and Nell out wide showed real quality on the ball and Georgia up front was a constant threat going forward. Both Gordon’s and St Nicholas had a few attacks and Clara pulled off a couple of great saves in goal. Jess, our captain for the day, was tenacious throughout and drove us forward continually winning lots of tackles and setting up attacks. We beat Gordon’s 2-0 with goals from Matilda and Nell and we drew against a very strong St Nicholas team 1-1 with the goal coming from Georgia. A great first outing for the girls. Under 14s Netball Tournament The U14's had a great warm up for their forthcoming tour in a versatility tournament at Tormead this week. I was proud of each and every girl, who played in every position, some of which had never played out of position before. Each game was 6 minutes each way with a change of position at half time. The girls battled for every ball and goal, and truly displayed some excellent game play on court. The girls won one, lost two games closely (by one goal) and had a difficult game against the subsequent winners. The girls represented the school superbly and clearly enjoyed the experience. A definite for one for next year. Now for Liddington this weekend. U15 Mixed Hockey vs St Ed's This week’s game was against St Ed's on our home pitch. The team were ready for another fixture and we're hoping for a win. St Ed's had first push back and from the offset you could see it was going to be a tough but competitive game. Both teams worked hard and both teams playing extremely well. There were some great passes between our midfields and forwards. Henry was in goal this week and had a fantastic game. Henry saved some incredible goals stopping St Ed's scoring early. Thea was brilliant in defence always breaking down their play early, not letting them get to far up the pitch. Towards the end of the first half St Ed's managed to score their first goal. After a quick team chat we were on to the second half. The whole team worked hard for the whole game, trying to stop St Ed's from scoring another goal. Jack was very strong at the back breaking down their attack. Lexie was also great in midfield helping push the ball up the pitch. Towards the end of the game St Ed's managed to score another two goals in the final minutes. It was a great game and very competitive. Final score was 3-0 to St Ed's. Well done to everyone that played! U15s Football v Priors Field A wonderful game of football considering the brutal weather this game was played in. The girls started really well and were on the front foot straight from the start. Showing good physicality and a desire to get the ball moving forward quickly. Heidi scored the first two goals of eth game. The second of which was a fantastic left foot volley from the penalty spot after a long throw in from Jemima. The girls were strong in defence and on the occasion the opposition did get past Jamie was unstoppable in goal with a string of fine saves. Lulu made it 3-0 with a great from distance before Priors field scored the final goal of the first half to make it 3-1. A classic game of two halves came into play as Priors field became more physical in the game and made it hard for us to get out from the back. Despite some fantastic saves from Lexie in goal during the second half a narrow 5-3 defeat was the end score line. A great game to witness and the girls did a fantastic job against a tough opposition. 1/2 Staff v Sixth Formers Badminton Tournament This weeks badminton champions were Youmin / Lloydy. Beating a highly competitive pair of Sam B and Alicia T 21 - 15 in the final. 1/1 Under 18s Hockey V More House Club Link – Girls Football Please see details of great opportunity to get involved with a local club: click here for more info.
